"The smells of a printmaking studio with its etching inks, rosin, clove oil and zinc plates being warmed up to apply a soft ground, are intoxicating to me. Add to that a new etching plate (preferably with the edges already bevelled) or a nice fresh linoblock, and my imagination floats to another world." Ulrike Sturm

 

Ulrike Sturm has worked as a visual artist and printmaker since 1993. She works predominantly in printmedia (linocuts, etchings, screenprints). She also creates large-scale vinyl wall artworks, makes artist books and drawings.

She teaches in the Bachelor of Visual Arts program at TAFE QLD Nambour (in partnership with the University of Canberra) and and in the Bachelor of Digital Media program at Central Queensland University, Noosa campus.

Her illustration portfolio can be accessed on the Illustrators Australia website and she has completed many freelance illustration projects. Her work can frequently be seen in the Meanjin literary journal.
