"The smells of a printmaking studio with its etching inks, rosin, clove oil and zinc plates being warmed up to apply a soft ground, are intoxicating to me. Add to that a new etching plate (preferably with the edges already bevelled) or a nice fresh linoblock, and my imagination floats into another world."

Ulrike has worked as a visual artist and printmaker since 1993. She studied printmaking at Sydney College of the Arts, completing her Bachelor of Visual Arts in 1996 and then her Masters in Fine Arts in 2012. To extend her printmaking skills, she also attended the Sydney Gallery School (Meadowbank TAFE NSW) where she completed an Advanced Diploma of Fine Arts in 1998. Ulrike is currently working on her practice-led PhD through Central Queensland University, Noosa campus.

As well as teaching in the Bachelor of Visual Arts program at TAFE QLD Nambour (in conjunction with the University of Canberra) and and in the Bachelor of Digital Media program at Central Queensland University, Noosa campus, she also teaches art workshops that are open to all interested persons. Have a look at the edition 9 website for more information.
